‘Capable person’: Victorian Liberals elect John Pesutto as their new leader

The Victorian Liberal Party has elected its new leader, John Pesutto, in what’s believed to have been a “one vote margin” against Brad Battin, says Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“Pesutto, you might recall, lost his seat in the previous Dan-slide, but he won it back this time against strong teal opposition,” Ms Credlin said.

“He’s a capable person with a good backstory: the son of migrants, he grew up in Morwell and built a successful career in Melbourne as a lawyer.

“Let’s hope he can broaden the Liberal base, take the fight up to a bad Labor government but keep faith with Liberal values.”
