GDP September data release captures ‘global uncertainty’: Treasurer Chalmers

Treasurer Jim Chalmers says the national GDP data accounts for September were released today, capturing “some and not all of the substantial global uncertainty” and depicting “an economy performing solidly”.
“They capture July and August and September of this year and obviously a lot has happened since then, whether it was subsequent interest rate rises or further developments in the global economy,” Mr Chalmers said during a press conference on Wednesday.
“This paints a picture of an economy which is relatively robust despite the substantial challenges being thrown at it from around the world.
“These national accounts show an economy performing solidly, withstanding the challenges facing it so far but with substantial challenges still to come.”
