Wales: Pensioner, 83, fighting for life after dog attack at house

Three people have been arrested after a dog savagely attacked an 83-year-old woman, leaving her with life-threatening injuries.

The dog, breed currently unknown, has been put down following the violent incident in Caerphilly, Wales.

Specially trained firearms officers rushed to a property in Heol Fawr after the alarm was sounded around 3.15pm on Saturday.

Paramedics took the pensioner to hospital, where she is still fighting for her life.

A 55-year-old man was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Two men, aged 20 and 31, and a woman, 28, have been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury.

All three, from the Caerphilly area, have been released under conditional bail.

Gwent police have appealed for people to come forward with information.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Sedgebeer said: ‘Officers will be making further enquiries at this time and will remain at the scene as the investigation progresses.
