The focus of football fans might be on the World Cup right now – but club managers and scouts will very much be plotting their moves for when the January transfer window opens next month.

Players making a name for themselves in the World Cup could well see their names added to the wish lists of the biggest clubs in the league.

Liverpool could look to add more depth in the centre of the park to cover their injury prone midfielders, whilst Chelsea may want to add more quality in attack with question marks over Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech.

And league leaders Arsenal might want to dip into the market to provide cover for Gabriel Jesus, who is expected to be sidelined for at least three months after injuring his knee at the World Cup.

Here are all the important details.

When does it open?

The January transfer window opens at midnight on January 1, 2023 in the Premier League.

The window also opens on January 1 for the EFL as well as in Scotland, Germany and France, while in Spain and Italy deals can begin from January 2.

Players starring at the World Cup will surely be added to the wish lists of Premier League clubs, with the January transfer window opening after the tournament has finished on December 18.

When is the January transfer deadline day?

The Premier League’s January transfer window comes to a close on Tuesday, January 31 at 11pm.

The other big five leagues and Scotland will also have until this date to wrap up their transfer business.
