The influence of coal prices on energy bills is ‘relatively small’

NSW Mining Chief Executive Stephen Galilee says the influence of coal prices on increased energy bills is “relatively small”.

“There are other factors at play including what the generators themselves are going to charge,” Mr Galilee said.

“It’s a very complicated market – to some extent the last thing we need is more fiddling from politicians in this market given how politically charged it is.”
