‘Don’t underestimate’ Donald Trump when ‘real fight’ begins

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would make a brilliant president but he should not underestimate Donald Trump “when the real fight starts”, author and former Conservative MP Lord Archer says.

Former US president Donald Trump officially launched his 2024 presidential campaign on November 15.

His main rival for the Republican Primary is Governor DeSantis, who enjoyed a highly successful Florida midterm election campaign.

Mr Trump currently holds the lead over Mr DeSantis in the 2024 Primary poll, however, the Sunshine State’s newly re-elected governor has not said whether he will contest the presidency.

“Everything I’ve seen about him (DeSantis) I like – but that doesn’t mean he will be there on the final day,” Lord Archer told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.

“What will happen when the real fight starts? Don’t underestimate Trump.”
